It has several names like Indian fern, water fern, oriental waterfern, and water hornfern. In the Philippines it is called pakung-sungay (literally ‘antler fern’ or ‘horn fern’). The delicate, lacy leaves are also use by aquarists as a hiding place for new born fry . It is a fast growing plant as long as good conditions are provided. Many people use it as a way to remove chemicals and hard metals from the water.
