I made a brief foray into Euro nymphing. It's fun and I caught a lot of fish. Unfortunately, a neuromuscular condition has weakened my right hand and arm. I thought the semi automatic function would help me overcome my issue – and it does somewhat. But it is not quite enough. I still lack the strength to either cast or retrieve with that arm. So I am releasing equipment that I can no longer use. You can benefit from my situation. My interested in this reel came from perusing Devin Olsen's videos. He carries a number of semi automatic reels and discusses their virtues. He reports he is a convert to this type of reel from his experiences at the international flyfishing tournaments. I thought it was worth a try. And I was so impressed! I love to fight a fish on the reel and the semi automatic function makes that almost instantaneous. With each pull of the lever, the reel picks up 6 feet of line! It's silky smooth and simply a delight. Now you can switch over and fight the fish with either hand- line retrieve or, my preference, putting the fish on the reel. And at the end of the day or when you move from spot to spot, just hook the fly onto one of the guides and a couple of flicks of the lever pulls the line tight for transport. The look and feel of this device speaks to the high-quality of manufacturing. It is ruggedly durable. And the incredible machinery of the semi automatic retrieve function is mesmerizing. There is so much to love here. The line feeds out through a circular ceramic porthole which allows for smooth flow of line during fish runs or line retrieval and prevents line abrasion. Furthermore, the closed frame design helps prevent trapping thin nymphing line between the frame and spool. A finely adjustable drag mechanism can be set to your specific needs and preferences. I would note that this reel is designed for holding the rod and reel in the right hand while fighting a fish. The reel knob is only accessible from the angler's left hand. Of course, you could still fight a fish holding the rod left handed and employ a right hand-line retrieve while using the semi automatic function to pick up slack. This may be hard to visualize from my description but will be straightforward when you are fighting a fish. Please note that the manufacturers description of line capacity assumes the use of a weight forward fly line which is unnecessary for euro nymph techniques. There is ample capacity for backing with standard thin euro nymphing line. This Yoto nymph reel is in beautiful condition, very lightly used. I think you will be thrilled to attach this amazing instrument to your rod and go fishing. Please note that I have 100% customer satisfaction.
