Antique Hand Painted Blown Milk Glass Easter Egg Purple Flower Green Leaves For Your Antique Easter Egg Collection – EasterEgg4 Details Description: A beautiful antique hand painted white or milk glass Easter Egg. This white glass egg is decorated with a hand painted purple flower (Pansy?) on a greenish branch and green leaves in the background. The flower also shows some yellow coloring in the center and a few gray colored highlights. There is the word Easter written in gold coloring above the flower. The word Easter is worn out and you can only see the Ea and barley the t, the e and the r. This blown glass egg is only decorated on one side and the other side is not decorated. The egg shows a pontil at one end which we show in the fifth photo. The flower design is very colorful showing minimum loss of colors. However, the gold word Easter has major losses. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Uncertain but most likely late 19th century to early 20th century. Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Size: Measures ~3 3/4″ long and ~2 1/2″ in diameter at its widest. The piece weighs 2.4 ounces. Maker: Unknown. Marks: Unmarked as to the maker. Distinguishing Characteristics – Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice antique Easter Egg that survived for almost 100 years or more even though it is made of glass. Condition: The egg is in great shape without breaks, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. The painted decoration is in relatively in good shape with losses to the colors, which are still bright and vivid. The gold word “Easter” has lost quite a bit of its coloring and letters with only traces of the “ster” obvious. The surface of the egg has some minor scratches, general soiling, and some residue of what we believe is glue and have not attempted to remove but we believe can be cleaned though we will leave that to the discretion of the new owner. There is also some extra soiling at the pontil, which again can be seen in the fifth photo. The pontil is also open in the center with a hold that is original to the making of the piece. However, these issues do not distract from the beauty or condition of the piece. Please carefully view the photos presented to better assess the condition of this rare antique.
